Press Release

The Green Goblin. Magneto. Dr. Doom. Names that strike fear into the hearts of superheroes and regular joes alike. Heat Conduction Man. Slab. The BaffleMaster. Names with…slightly less impact than the others. VILLAINS is the story of these (somewhat) super-powered criminals.

In a world where the big guns of super-villainy target New York City, Metropolis and Gotham for their dastardly deeds, what kind of villains would come out of a non-descript little burg like Area City? The NEXT BIG THINGS, that’s who. You may not have heard of the likes of Baron Mind, The Fate, or Polio Man yet, but you will. And not just on the stupid people news either. They’re getting their act together, learning how to use their awesome, mind-blowing powers together as a team, and when they do…hold on to your butts, America. These VILLAINS are gonna take over!

From Steven Attanasie & Andy Grigg, the comedic minds behind ‘MANOS: Rock Opera of Fate’ and ‘CUBICLE! An Office Space Musical’ comes VILLAINS, a peek into the lives of the worst Super- Villains you’ve never heard of. When they try to work together as a team and pull off the heist that will make their names household words, hilarity ensues and you won’t believe how it all ends up! “With marquee names like Iron Man, The Hulk and Batman all over the multiplexes this summer, the time is right to bring VILLAINS to the people,” says Chad Wise, NMTC head honcho and director of VILLAINS. “If you’ve had enough of the douchebag superhero saving the day, getting the girl and maybe learning something, you’re gonna love this show.” Written and directed by comic book fans, VILLAINS has enough inside jokes to please the hardcore and enough heart that you can bring your significant other and you won’t get in trouble for it.

VILLAINS will run May 23rd through June 21st, Fridays & Saturdays at 10 PM at the National Pastime Theater, 4139 N. Broadway, Chicago. Tickets are $15 each & can be purchased online at www.nmtchicago.org or you can reserve in advance at 312-458-9083 and pay at the door.
