Press Release

New Millennium Theatre Company will open its Summer Season with Scooby-Doo Mystery Theatre, playing June 22nd-July 15th, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm.

Scooby-Doo Mystery Theatre is a script and improvisation based experience taking episodes from the classic TV series and giving them a decidedly ‘90’s twist. The cartoon exploits of Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy & Scooby come to life before your eyes only slightly different than you remember them. “Haunted House Hang-Up” finds the gang on the way to a rock music festival when they are forced to take an unexpected detour to a creepy old mansion inhabited by a Headless Specter who may or may not be the real villain. In “Jeepers, it’s the Creeper” a phantom has been robbing a local bank and the gang must solve a mystery that has even the police baffled. Scooby-Doo Mystery Theatre takes these classic episodes and brings out all the little details that everyone knew was going on behind the scenes, but that the television audience never saw. This is definitely NOT your kids’ Scooby-Doo.

The cast of Scooby-Doo Mystery Theatre includes Bryan Dawidowicz, Jill Thiel, Zenna Gustafson, Brett Coy, Tim Ahlberg, Chris Maag and Firestone Mulvaney. Directed by Chad Wise, Assistant Directed by Allison Schaffer, Costume Design by Martti Nelson.

All performances are in the Boxer Rebellion Theater, 1257 W. Loyola, 1 block west of the Red Line Loyola ‘L’ Stop in Rogers Park. Performances run June 22nd through July 15th. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm. Tickets are $8 for students/ seniors, $10 general admission and are available online at newmillenniumtheatre.com, at the door or call 773-743-9681.
