ON FEBRUARY 13....

The Flaming Dames Take on the French Quarter
‘Bourbon Street Burlesque’ Arrives in Time for Mardi Gras

The Flaming Dames return to ignite lovers and partygoers in their latest revue,Bourbon Street Burlesque’. And audiences should get ready to be treated to a roaring party of beads, feathers, and more shimmy shaking girls than 9 out of 10 doctors could safely recommend.  And for the first time, the Dames will be performing all weekend long with shows on Friday and Saturday nights and a special performance on Fat Tuesday, February 24.   The King and Queen of Mardi Gras will launch the celebration before serving up a hot new collection of Dames that includes Frisky Flambeaux, Victoria Voodoo, Zoe Zydeco, Cajun Spice, Hurricane Holly, and Bourbon Street Betty.  It’s time to ‘Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez’ and become a part of the world’s greatest party as The Flaming Dames deliver the flavor of New Orleans without ever leaving Chicago.

The Flaming Dames in Bourbon Street Burlesque kicks off New Millennium Theatre Company’s 2009 season and is the 11th Flaming Dames production to open in Chicago since 2003.  Considering the theme, Creator and Director Leslie Kerrigan thinks, "This new show is another sharp turn for us.  We wanted to keep everything crisp, clean, short, and sweet, but still maintain the signature edginess that The Flaming Dames have become known for.”

“It’s a perfect wild party with an emphasis on bouncing…beads,” says cast member Ellen Domonkos who is also Co-Choreographer and Assistant Director.  “And we’ll have you up on your feet earning beads right along with us!”

“You can’t forget the bead factor,” says Kerrigan chiming back in.  We’ve got a boatload to give away and will be involving the audience in really fun ways.   You’ll have a good time; it’s everything purple, gold, green, feathery and over the top!”

In addition to their concept burlesque and cabaret revues at The Spot, the Flaming Dames have been performing throughout the Chicago land area at events for Yelp.com, Camel Cigarettes, and Getty Images, to name a few, and have been appearing regularly at local and regional festivals like the Flashback Horror Drive-In Weekend, (Motley)Crue Fest, Literally Sexy, and Detroit’s Dirty Festival.  New Millennium follows up Bourbon Street Burlesque with their next late night comedy Police Academy: Insurgency Emergency opening March 6 at National Pastime Theater (4139 N. Broadway), where they have been a late night resident for the past 2 years.   This will be New Millennium’s 11th season producing in Chicago and the 2008 season was one of their most successful to date with the hit Flaming Dames revues ‘Hell’s Belles’ and ‘Have a Very Sexy Christmas’ and productions of The Texas Chainsaw Musical and David Bowie’s Christmas Special 1977 (Network Edit).

The Flaming Dames in ‘Bourbon Street Burlesque’ runs Friday nights at 10:30 pm February 13 – 27, Saturday Nights at 8:30 pm February 14 – 28 with a special performance on Fat Tuesday, February 24 at 10:00 pm.  All performances are at The Spot, 4437 N. Broadway in Chicago.  Advance tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.nmtchicago.org or reserved by calling 312-458-9083.  Half price tickets available while supplies last at www.goldstar.com.  Limited tickets are available at the door.
