Since 1988, Peter Guither has served the Theatre Department at Illinois State University in Normal-Bloomington, Illinois, functioning as General Manager of the Illinois Shakespeare Festival and Illinois State Theatre. He also teaches the undergraduate Theatre Management concentration for the department, plus classes in theatrical photography and various computer software. Peter received his Bachelor's degree in Theatre from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and his Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Management from Brooklyn College (City University of New York). Some of the original research in his master's thesis was included in the primary theatre management textbook, Theatre Management and Production in America by Stephen Langley.

Peter's past work includes serving as Executive Director of the Gregg Smith Singers, and as Associate with Katz Productions and the producers of Big River on Broadway, all in New York, as well as General Manager of the Corning Summer Theatre. Peter Guither is also a graphic designer and does most of the design work for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival and the theatre department, as well as developing the award-winning Web pages for both the Illinois Shakespeare Festival and Illinois State Theatre.

As a photographer, Peter focuses on theatrical photography and fine art photography of the human body. He does all the theatrical photography for Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University.

His fine art photography -- The Living Canvas -- has been exhibited in Chicago and Normal, as well as through his extensive online gallery.
